Translation

We, who begin our journey on this road whither we met fortuitously
Shall join hands – come now, let us depart!

Thou mustn’t forget that
I am always here next to thee
Thou mustn’t recklessly go off
On one’s own
Verily one as small as thee will get lost

Wherefore is courage so suddenly born within me when thou dost smile?
Nevertheless, I offer thee my service

Thou, frolicking, unaware of my secrecy
Shalt win not with weapons, but thy innocence and sincerity

Thou mustn’t forget that
I am always on thy side
Thou mustn’t take all thy hardships
On one’s own
For it is my duty to share the pain with thee, O frail one

Wherefore dost thy tears make my chest tighten so?
There is no helping it if I must protect thee

We, who grant wishes by binding our powers
Shall signal with our eyes – come now, let us depart!

We, who begin our journey on this road whither we met fortuitously
Shall join hands – come now, let us depart!

Translation notes: Lopmon is a pseudo-god that speaks in old Japanese, so the natural translation is for her to speak in biblical English.

I did this translation many years ago and I did some research to try to make sure I was consistent in her speech here, but I am not an expert in the history of the English language by any means. I did this song for fun (and because I love Aoi Tada), and thought I might as well post it.
